What it is like
TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course draws crowds that no other golf event approaches, built around the fully enclosed 16th hole, where fans cheer, boo and throw things (encouraged, within reason). The grounds function as a festival: bars, food, big screens and a general admission crowd that skews young and loud on Friday and Saturday. Thursday and Sunday are the days for people who want to watch golf. Free-admission practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday are the sleeper move for a relaxed look at the course and the players.
Getting there from Hideaway
TPC Scottsdale is 13 miles north, a 20-minute drive on an ordinary day via Indian School Road east to Loop 101 north. During tournament week the 101 exits back up, so the sensible options are the tournament’s shuttle lots and its official rideshare zone, both announced each January. Leave Old Town by 8 AM on tournament days to beat the worst of it. Coming back, the crowd flows to Old Town’s Entertainment District, which is a 14-minute walk from the house, so drop the car and finish the night on foot.
Where to stay, honestly
North Scottsdale is closer to the course; Old Town has the nights. Most groups choose Old Town because the tournament is a day event and the evenings are the point. Hideaway sleeps eight in three bedrooms and a sleeper sofa (full-size luxury comfort mattress), has two covered parking spaces for the rental cars, a 65-inch TV for the leaderboard and a grill for the one night in. The Phoenix Open also overlaps Barrett-Jackson’s final days, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show (February 11 to 21) and Parada del Sol (February 6), and spring training opens five days after the final round, so this is the most expensive and most booked week of the year in every category. Minimum stays are longer and rates are highest; booking in the fall is normal.
Beyond the course
Play a round yourself at Talking Stick (15 minutes) or Silverado (9); walk the ArtWalk on Thursday; take the Saturday morning farmers market at the Civic Center, 14 minutes on foot, as the antidote to Friday night. See golf trips and the nightlife guide.

When is the WM Phoenix Open 2027?
Tournament week runs February 8 through 14, 2027, at TPC Scottsdale’s Stadium Course. Practice rounds with free admission are Monday and Tuesday, February 8 and 9; the pro-am is Wednesday; and the four tournament rounds are Thursday through Sunday, February 11 to 14. The Concert in the Coliseum is Saturday, February 6.
How far is TPC Scottsdale from Old Town?
About 13 miles. From Hideaway it is a 20-minute drive without traffic via Loop 101; during tournament week, plan on 30 to 45 minutes and use the official shuttles or rideshare.
Where do you park for the Phoenix Open?
The tournament runs official parking lots with shuttles to the course and publishes a rideshare pickup and drop-off zone; details and prices are posted at wmphoenixopen.com each January. There is no general public parking at TPC Scottsdale itself during the event.
