Three ways to the gates

Hideaway sits one block east of Old Town, and Scottsdale Stadium (7408 E Osborn Rd) is about a mile southwest. Walking takes 22 minutes on flat sidewalks. Driving takes 3 minutes, plus whatever the stadium-area parking costs you in time and money on a game day. The free trolley is the third option, and it comes in two forms: a game-day loop that runs only when the Giants are at home, and the city’s regular weekday routes.

Option 1: the game-day trolley (Giants home games)

During Cactus League spring training the City of Scottsdale runs a dedicated free trolley loop between downtown parking and the stadium on every Giants home-game day. Per the city, service starts 90 minutes before first pitch and keeps running until 30 minutes after the last inning, so you can stay for the whole game and still catch a ride back. The city’s map lists a 15-minute frequency and its news release says every 20 minutes; plan on something in between.

The loop makes four stops: the Nordstrom parking garage at Scottsdale Fashion Square, Craftsman Court (which serves the public garages at 5th Avenue and Stetson Drive and at 3rd Avenue), the Main Street underground parking garage, and Scottsdale Stadium. Look for the orange signs; the city marks the game-day stops with them.

From Hideaway, the smart version is to drive three minutes to Fashion Square, park in the Nordstrom garage, the city’s starting point for the loop, and ride the trolley to the gates. You skip the stadium-area parking hunt, the car stays in the shade, and after the game the trolley drops you back at the mall, where dinner at the Waterfront or Fashion Square is a short walk. If you would rather not drive at all, walk 25 minutes to the Nordstrom garage or take a two-minute rideshare to any of the four stops.

The city ran this loop for the 2025 season and announces each season’s details on scottsdaleaz.gov. Confirm the 2027 dates and stops there before you rely on it; the Cactus League schedule for 2027 runs February 19 to March 23.

Option 2: the regular weekday trolleys

Scottsdale’s three permanent trolley routes are fare-free and run Monday through Friday from 5:45 AM to 7:45 PM, roughly every 20 minutes, with no service on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving or Christmas. Two of them pass within a five-minute walk of Hideaway.

Miller/Hayden (MLHD). Board on Miller Road near Indian School Road or Camelback Road and ride south. The route continues down Miller Road past the stadium blocks toward the Granite Reef Senior Center; get off near 2nd Street or Osborn Road and walk about eight minutes west to the stadium’s main plaza. The city’s route map lists weekday service from 5:58 AM to 7:16 PM on this line.

68th Street/Camelback (68CM). Also boards on Miller Road and runs west along Camelback to Scottsdale Fashion Square, then through downtown along Scottsdale Road. Get off at Scottsdale Road near 2nd Street and walk about six minutes east to the ballpark. On a weekday game day this route also connects you to the Fashion Square end of the spring training loop.

Be honest with yourself about the math: walk five minutes to the stop, wait up to 20 minutes, ride five, walk eight. On a mild March afternoon the 22-minute walk straight down Osborn is often just as fast, and the trolley does not run on weekends or in the evening. The trolley earns its keep on hot days, for anyone who would rather not walk a mile, and for the ride home.

If you drive or walk instead

Driving takes three minutes. Walking is 22 minutes: out of the community to Miller Road, south to Osborn Road, then west to the gates, all on sidewalks. A rideshare from the community entrance on Parkway Avenue is a two-minute trip and the easiest option after a night game.
